Rehabilitative training for people with macular disease

Question : Does training visually impaired individuals to use specialised eye movement stategies alter visual behaviour and lead to impoved visual performance

Methods: Pateints with macular disease will be recruited from the Medical Retina and Low Vision clinics. Visual behavious will be investigated, specialised eye movement training will be undertaken. Changes in visual performance will be recorded.

Sample Size : 40

Outcome Measure : Identification of preferred retinal locations.
Assessment of quality of fixation.
Assessment of patterns of eye movements.
Reading speed.
Evaluation of mobility performance.
